Press Conference on Exploitation of Migrant Workers in Lithuania – October 8th (Parliament)

Standing Together Against the Exploitation of Migrant Workers in Lithuania
Today, representatives of the Filipino Community in Lithuania joined an important press conference at the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania addressing the exploitation and abuse of migrant workers in Lithuania.
We are grateful to Seimas member Tomas Tomilinas and Kristina Mišinienė, Head of the Centre for Combatting Human Trafficking and Exploitation, for organizing this important discussion and for giving migrant workers a voice.
We also thank the representatives of trade unions and other organizations who participated and continue to stand for the rights, dignity and fair treatment of all workers in Lithuania.
Most importantly, we want to thank all the Filipino migrant workers who came to the Seimas today. Your presence matters. Your courage to speak, to listen and to stand together helps make sure that exploitation does not remain hidden.
Filipinos come to Lithuania to work, contribute, build a better future for their families and become part of Lithuanian society. We should never have to choose between having a job and having our dignity, safety and rights respected.
Exploitation of migrant workers is not only a migrant issue. It is a human rights issue, a workers’ rights issue and a Lithuanian society issue.
We believe that every worker — regardless of nationality — deserves:
✅ Fair and lawful working conditions
✅ Fair wages
✅ Respect and dignity
✅ Protection from abuse and exploitation
✅ The freedom to seek help when their rights are violated
Today was an important step, but the conversation cannot end here.
When migrant workers stand together, when trade unions stand with them, and when institutions listen, change becomes possible.
🇵🇭🤝🇱🇹 Together, we can build a Lithuania where every worker is treated with dignity and respect.
